Victor R

Post by jimmantwo »

Hello - just acquired a Victor R s/n 23,xxx - I have a few questions as I have never worked on one of these. I need to remove the platter to service the motor - I assume it pulls straight off as is usual but before I do that I would like that confirmed (it is very stuck). I am missing speed adjustment screw/knob and need replacement or alternative so any suggestions appreciated on that. Lastly I cannot find info on original platter cover material and color - what is on there is red felt and I would like to replace close to original . Thanks

Stuck turntables can be a real bear to remove. It's often far easier to remove the spindle shaft from the motor, with the turntable still attached. Then, with the underside of the turntable hub properly supported, the shaft can be tapped out with a brass hammer or a mallet. (Regular hammers can damage the spindle tip.)

Dont forget to use liquid wrench or similar penetrant.
