March 11, 1890: Thomas A. Edison was granted a U.S. patent (No.423,039) for “Phonograph for Dolls or Other Toys.” Fewer than 500 Edison Talking Dolls were sold in 1890. For more: https://forum.antiquephono.org/topic/42 ... mment-2336

March 11, 1914: Eugene Kieffer filed for a U.S. Design Patent (eventually granted as No.45,719) for “Cabinet for Talking Machines.” This would become the cabinet for the Victor/Victrola XXV.
