fixing blue amberol skipping.

Post by phonograph guy3435 »

I've had a 1918 recording of Oui Oui Marie for a few years now and just reamed it. the first 30 seconds are only skipping, but the rest of it doesn't skip at all. I'm not sure what causes this and is there any way to fix it?

Did you ream the cylinder so it runs perfectly true? Is there missing plaster leaving a divet in the record surface? Is the reproducer properly set up so when the cylinder is playing, the limit pin is centered on the limit loop? Is the reproducer floating weight free to move laterally and up and down? Is the stylus unduly worn? Have you examined the cylinder for warpage or groove damage

There are likely things I have missed others can add.
