I recently purchased a a Harmony front mount machine with a Hawthorne and Sheble motor. The drive gear is riding low on the governor worm gear. Is the a way to adjust the height of the governor that I am not seeing? Thanks in advance for any info.

Also curious to see a H&S motor in a Harmony.

Sorry for the delay in responding. I had to pick my purchases up from Stanton's auction
. The machine is completely disassembled right at the moment. It's the same exact setup as a busy bee front mount disc machine.

I just moved the motor into some better light and, lo and behold, there's an adjustment! As soon as I have the machine all cleaned up I will post a picture of it in all its Glory.

Re: Harmony Governor Adjustment
Ohhhh, thaaat motor.
I blanked on that being a H&S motor.
If the oblong piece in the end view is what you're referring to, I think you'll find that it's not any kind of adjustment. It's a hard steel piece that's meant to be a thrust bearing surface for the governor shaft. I have a motor like that. I'll have a look at it to see what might be adjustable.
At a quick inspection of my motor, I'm not finding any governor height adjustment. Also, the governor drive gear is not adjustable either, due to it being pinned to the spindle shaft. Is it possible for you to show a picture of the misalignment you're concerned about?

Re: Harmony Governor Adjustment
You are 100% correct, that is not an adjustment. Below you will find photos. When the shaft is all the way down, it does not line up with the governor. When it is lined up, the shaft is up out of the base. Could I put a ball bearing in the base to raise the shaft to the right position?

Re: Harmony Governor Adjustment
It appears that someone has "been in there" and has done some mischief.
Here is how things should look. The dimension from the tip of the spindle shaft to the shoulder of the gear should be 11/32". It appears that maybe somebody ground down the end of your spindle shaft, for whatever reason. A ball bearing will not help in this case.
With your motor completely wound down, maybe you could remove the support piece and post some similar pictures?

Jerry,
I have removed the lower support ( see photos) and nothing seems too worn or damaged. I even swapped a spare support from a parts motor from an Arentino and still the same issue.
