Victor R reproduction elbow/flange doesn’t fit

Post by jimmantwo »

The elbow on my R is split so I bought a nice repro elbow with a flange. When I insert the long throat reproducer into the flange it is then too large to fit into the elbow. Basically the rubber used to make the flange is too thick or the inserted part on the reproducer is too large, The original flange was rock hard and broke apart and was unusable. I have had a lot of elbow problems lately. 😀

Can you sand the rubber down until it fits? Sometime ago I had to do something similar otherwise it’s finding a piece of thinner rubber pipe.

I'm not sure if this will help much or not, however, I have always inserted the rubber in the elbow first, then insert the reproducer. The part of the rubber that extends from the elbow can expand when the reproducer is inserted. Once the reproducer gets started, it may be easier to insert further. Consider also using a small bit of silicone lubricant or even a small speck of dish soap to insert further.
