Edison Gem Question

I recently picked up this Edison Gem. After replacing the belt the mandrel spins fine. However, I am missing the crank it seems. What’s odd is that this hole did not accept a typical male or female crank. What is supposed to go here? Thanks.

That's a Model A Gem, which uses a key.
