Hello all,
I'm doing a little project about early Edison Artists and I just want to make sure I got this information correct.
So, from what I have gathered:
For Edison's in-house bands/orchestras, there were (at least) 3 separate bands during the 1897 recording sessions-
- Edison (Grand) Concert Band
- Edison Symphony Orchestra
- Edison Brass Quartet
I do know that the "Grand" part of the Concert Band name was dropped on some of the recordings around this time, but my main confusion is this: were these 3 in-house bands separate entities from each other, or were they all part of one, overall band/orchestra? And were the early Walcutt and Leeds cuts that were recorded by "Edison's Band" the same personnel that played in any of the three previously mentioned bands? I'm sorry if this is a confusing question, but I wanted to make sure I understand this right before I go too far into this project.
Thank you all for taking the time to read my question!
Regards,
Carter
