Glad Eye's Congo Four

Post by Marc Hildebrant »

From 1924. Edison Diamond Disc 51405-L

Beginning "thump" from disc surface defect. Complete removal in the frequency domain would remove too much music.
By the way, I saw a YouTube video where a person removed these common thump sounds by slowing down the turntable (33 and less). The person thought that they had discovered a great idea, but all they did was lower the music frequencies (from the slow turntable) below the lower frequency cut-off of the transcribing electronics. My method is to use a "brick wall" DSP (digital signal processing) filter at a low frequency.
