FS: EDISON HOME MODEL F FREE SHIPPING

Post by erunltd »

Offering an Edison Home Model F cylinder phonograph, Serial No. 402051. Some restoration was done years ago. The motor has been serviced and runs smoothly. Model F is a 2-4 min cylinder player and was designed to use the S-reproducer which I do not have. The model F is rare today as it was the end of the Edison Home series and was produced for only one year 1912-1913. It will need a belt and minor adjustments. It has a new bearing. There are 3 small, plugged holes in the back where it looks like someone tried to install a back bracket at one time. The case is clean and solid with a new scroll decal applied.

This is available for pickup locally in Phoenix, Arizona.

FREE SHIPPING if your mailing address is within the Continental U.S.
I use Pirate (UPS) shipping service which is the most economical and fully insured way to ship.

Price: $725 First posted SOLD

The Model F Home is 4 minute only, the speed change gear is blocked so it can't be moved. Also it doesn't have the "2-4 Minute" label on the chassis.
Was supplied with the Diamond B reproducer and #10 cygnet horn. Looks like the bracket holes are plugged on the case rear.

Will add the disclaimer: Never say never, or always, when it comes to these machines.

Chuck . . .

Your comments are appreciated.

You can see that the chassis does not have the 2-4 minute decal.
I read from another source that these were 2-4 minute machines and
that they often came with the S-Reproducer. This phonograph is
equipped with 2-4 minute gearing. There is some confusion
with phonograph descriptions which conflate the F model Standard
and the Home. I will leave it to interested collectors to decide what they
think is accurate.

I simply offer the phonograph as I found it years ago as I am no longer
an Edison home collector. Like many older collectors, I am thinning out
my collection and shelves filled with parts or incomplete machines.

And that is exactly why I added that disclaimer.

Nothing is an absolute with this stuff. They were in business, use whatever is available to make a product. Nothing goes to waste.

A Model S reproducer won’t fit in a large-eye carriage. While the Model S has the larger diaphragm, the body has a a collar that fits into the small-eye carriage.

True. Good catch!

The differences and nuances of this late Home have been an interesting discussion. Hopefully, it adds to the interest in this offereing of a very nice machine.

I wonder if an Edison carriage/reproducer adapter would take care
using an S reproducer.
