Chaliapin in Japan in 1936

Yesterday I was gifted several hundred 78s and amongst them was this excellent condition 12” Victor record by Chaliapin.
The record was signed and dated in the dead wax of the master Feb 06, 1936 Tokyo.
This find led me to research opera and recording in Japan in the 1930s and also do some research of the artist in question (see screen grabs). Turns out this was Chaliapin’s last recording and done just a couple years before his death in 1938. Amazing voice for a fellow in his 60s.
Now, back to washing all those new records!
