Weekend Find - Early XVI - Restoration Pics Added

Post by antique1973 »

This is one of the best $200 deals I have come across in a while. Included
cabinet key, needle cup, and overall great shape. I haven't done anything
to it yet as far as cleaning. The reproducer has a newer gasket (still soft)
and the motor runs so quiet I am almost certain it has been re-greased at some
point. A light cabinet cleaning and this one is ready to go. ;)

That's a great looking XVI. Thanks for sharing it! The gold looks pretty nice on the hardware and the cabinet looks pretty clean too. It should really clean up nice and would look pretty good displayed next to your XVII. :)

Thanks Sonny. Actually I don't have a 17 yet but I suspect I will run across one some day.
I did some rearranging in the living room and currently there is only the L door and
a space waiting for a special delivery in August. Ok, I will let the cat out of the bag:
an XVI in American Walnut. :squirrel:

WOW What a bargain!

I was wondering, this motor looks like the one in my L-Door. Is it compatible with the
Victor 6 cabinet like the L-door version? Thanks for any info.

Hi

You don't find bargains like that every day of the week, well done.

Thanks guys! I think I was pretty lucky on this one. This is post cabinet (Goop + 0000 wool) cleaning
and Howards RAF. The cabinet was dry and had some UV damage but it blended
in pretty well. The carvings on this one are over the top. Fancy stuff.

Really nice, it looks like new, and a bargain to boot. That's what makes the hunt so much fun!
