I ended up with the suitcase home (not the polyphone). It's serial number 894. It has the weighted feedscrew, carriage lever holder, extra bosses on carriage, reproducer locking screw mounted next to the reproducer adjustment screw, 2 panhead screws to hold reproducer in carriage (before the clips), early motor which has the on/off lever presses against the speed governor yoke to shut off.
The Home polyphone was a Paul Baker reproduction carriage and crane. Very nice looking setup. Seller was asking $4700 for it.

Very nice, but in my opinion that Victor clock advertising the Syracuse dealer is a fantasy piece. I'd be suspicious of the Edison clock too. Lets hope they weren't being sold as genuine.

None of the clocks had price tags on them. The Edison one looked to be original because the face looked old and the finish was allegatored throughout. But who knows, anything can be duplicatated now days! I stay away from clocks because I don't know enough about them.

Hi Andersun!
Very nice early Home you ended up with! I've been fantasizing about getting one just like that with the brass mandrel, lift rest on the front of the top casting, etc. I especially like the H&S logo on the case. Can you tell us if that is the standard speaker and what the last patent date is? Congratulations on your aquisition!

Thanks for the nice comments. It has an Automatic Reproducer SN 56304 on it. I plan to put a Standard Speaker on it. Last patent date is June 30 1893.

That is a nice Home! They don't come much earlier, either. One of the first closed upper castings - and no Edison trademark decal. I hadn't noticed that while admiring it at Union. Congratulations, Steve - - and it was great meeting you!
