NIPPERS REPLACMENT???

Post by gramophone78 »

I was going though some boxes the other day and found a "blast from the past". Back in 1972-73 a friend for my Grandmothers Robert Stigwood ( of Robert Stigwood organization) sent her for me a large inflatable "RSO" red bull. As far as I know the main icon of the "disco" era. I remember years ago reading an article that this bull was the new replacment for our beloved Nipper as a record icon. Well, Nipper is back alive and well and where is the bull????..... .
I can not recall ever seeing another bull like this. I know that a cookie jar was made by the RSO company and sent to dealers at Xmas time back in the day. All these years this has just been folded up and stored away. I guess one day it will be a collectors item like the Bee Gees..... However, I think that is a whole utter story and that is no bull...   .

Gosh, it had been so long that I had to Google RSO to see who had recorded on that label.

It is actually a red cow.

From here:
David about starting RSO: 'You're the one' Robert Stigwood said, 'I've decided to start my own record company, and you are making it the greatest in the world!'.... 'What logo would you suggest for the label' Robert continued later on in the conversation with David. It was the year of the Red Cow in Japan and David replied: 'What about a Red Cow ? It's lucky in Japan!' On 1 January 1973 I started RSO Records. Just me and the Red Cow. I was 27 years old. On my door it said: D.S. English - President.
