Re: Columbia Mignon near my house.
The only other Mignon I have seen for sale before is this one that is on eBay again for too steep of a price to sell...even though it's in walnut.

I think the same can typically be said of that seller's prices in general - by no means a very useful barometer for the market. he seems to have beautiful pieces, but if you want them you're really going to have to pay.
you should pick up the one that's near you if it's still available - that price seems very very low.

I am going to try to check it out tonight. The owner is kind of busy so we may have to
postpone until tomorrow. That reproducer is tough to find right? Looks like a cheapo portable
one on the tonearm.

The reproducer is not a cheapo portable one. It is a Graphophone Grand used on outside horned machines such as the BN,BNW,BNWM, BII, BY, etc. This reproducer is also used on the early Grafonolas. It it a very desirable, hard to find reproducer.

Harvey is right about the reproducer. I'm not positive what was used on the Mignon. The one on eBay appears to have the common reproducer that is usually seen on most Grafonolas.
Either way, Brian is right that this one is a very good price. I hope you can get this one...please keep us posted1

They are scarce, but not rare in mahogany. I saw one at a barn sale in Bloomington, Indiana a couple of years ago for $200, but I passed because it had some veneer issues. It was fitted with the Grand soundbox.

Re: Columbia Mignon near my house.
The reproducer shown on ebay is a late model concert. This was the reproducer used just before the common No. 6. This was used from about late 1911, early 1912 until about 1913 when the No. 6 came out, on both outside horned machines and Grafonolas. Also this late concert was used on client machines such as the internal horn Standard, United, Aretino, and Harmony. The Concert Grand came out in 1909 when Columbia started to use the one piece brass tone arm. The Concert Grand was used on outside horned machines and early Grafonolas from 1909 - 1911 or 1912. The Mignon came out in 1910. My Mignon has the correct Concert Grand reproducer. The Mignon shown on Craigslist is correct. The one on ebay is wrong. It might be a swap.
