HELP! newby to gramophones. What is this and whats it worth?

hi, im looking at a gramophone for my 21st birthday and i need some help. Iv been looking at this machine for a while, iv done a bit of research but i just wanted to ask some people in the know what their opinions and knowledge on this gramophone is. I dont want to be spending a lot of money on a fake or on an overly damaged machine. By what i can see its a HMV, plays beautifully and was told its from around the 1920. There is a bit of damage on the inside of the lid and scratches on the door and they are asking AU$525 for it. I would appreciate any knowledge or advice you can give me. Thankyou
