Good to know they can stay putting out stuff in this climate. Their Blacks and the Birth of the Recording Industry project was a sterling piece of work. On of my fave historical reissues.
Some of their other CD's, like in their year by year comps have sound that's a little too 'restored' for my taste. Too processed.

I agree that some of those sound too "smooth". My favorites are those remastered by Doug Benson, actually, including the Hit-Of-The-Weeks records and the King Oliver Creole Jazz Orchestra (in what is probably the best sound these discs have ever been heard).

I know what you mean. I noticed this on their last HOTW reissue. However, I've heard much, much worse. The cd's are still perfectly listenable and enjoyable.Wolfe wrote:Good to know they can stay putting out stuff in this climate.
