New cabinet

Post by geedub »

Is it possible to take the guts out of my v-111 from 1922 and put it in a different style cabinet? My cabinet needs a little too much work and I found a nice looking cabinet on craigslist - it is a shorter and wider cabinet.

probably not. if by guts you mean everything, motor, hardware, motor board, horn, etc. then definitely not. certain components might be the same or similar, but if you're moving these from an upright to a console or lowboy type cabinet, then the motor board and horn most likely will not fit properly - and depending on the production year and which model cabinet you're considering buying, the hardware (tonearm, speed control, brake, etc.) may not be correct, if you can even get it to fit and work properly at all. unless you want a shoddily assembled project machine, it would be best to wait for another 111 cabinet (like the one you have) or else find another whole machine.

This thread should really be in the "Machines" section of the Forum...But I agree with Brian.
