Early XIV For Sale...

Post by SonnyPhono »

The early style XIV was discussed in another thread recently so I thought I would post this one I found for sale on Craigslist. It's $75, but is missing the motor and motor board. Still a good price in my opinion although the motor and motor board may take awhile to find.

That takes the Victor V motor right? If so it could be tough going. If it was near me
though I would take the chance at that price.

I actually keep one of these motors in my spare motor collection just in case the need arises (I also try to keep a motor for a Victor III or IV handy for the same reason). This pratice is the reason I ended up taking the plunge for my VTLA. Since I already knew what I spent for the motor, I could judge how much I could spend on the machine cabinent before the cost would become more than the completed machine was worth (although I always overspend in the end on things like gold plating, and being too lazy to service the motor myself, and wanting all the possible accessories and manuals to go with it). In the 4 years it took to complete the VTLA, I managed to pick up another motor at a reasonable price...of course, just in case I stuble across that empty Victor V or VI case.

If it was local, I'd drop $75 for it...but it's nowhere near where I live, and it's not so interesting to me to deal with the complications and cost of trying to get it shipped.
