Yeah, I think you're right. Should maybe find some manufacturer engraving on the bell, if so. Usually there's decorative engraving on trumpet, trombone, baritone, tuba bells, but I don't know about French horns.

Old joke: Q: How do you make a trombone sound like a French horn?
A: Stick your hand in the bell and miss a lot of notes.
