Class M Recently Sold On Ebay

Post by SonnyPhono »

I just found this listing for a Class M and was surprised by the price. Then I noticed that only 6 people had viewed the listing before it sold for the best offer of $4500. Did anyone here win this one?

Looks like it was only up for about 20 minutes. The listing was last modified at 8:06 AM and it was sold at 8:23 AM. My guess: Someone offered $4500 if they would end the auction and they did. You just don't know unless you try. Hope it went to a good home, all I know is, it wasn't mine :(

Thank you for forwarding that "auction". As the seller did his homework and was well informed about its market value, the Class M certainly went for a more appropriate price. Ebay was cheated to its fees, but this company will certainly get over it ...

Wow - the seller would certainly have been giving it away at $4500! The buyer is indeed a member of this board, and once the machine is in his possession perhaps he will post some additional photos. That small nickeled tag secured by 2 rivets (limiting use to the U.S. and Canada) must be on the rear of the upper casting - - unusual.

I never saw this either.

Are you sure? I cite from the auction description: "The last Class M, number 7028, was estimated at $20-$30K and sold in July 2006 at Skinner's for $18K, Lot Number 2468." Then why should he sell the machine for much less, especially buy it now? But if he actually did, our forum member must be congratulated!

I'm glad to hear someone from the board will be giving it a good home. I look forward to seeing plenty of pictures if the new owner is willing to share. I didn't realize it was only listed for 20 minutes but that makes sense considering only 6 people viewed the auction. I check eBay quite a bit, sometimes several times a day just in case someone posts a "Buy it now" auction for a low price. I have found a few great deals doing this, but nothing like a Class M of course! : )

So, how many ARE in existence? It sure seems a heck of a lot more than 4! Maybe 20-60 is a better number.

I heard Charlie Hummel has about 6 of them, but whether that's accurate or not I dont know.

Oh, it's true! I agree with Blimpy - - I'd guess around 40-50 exist.

There have to be more then that. Of the collectors I know I can count at least 36 machines and that is only in the area! They are rare but there has to be at least 200-300 out there.....
