why not you? and why not post a picture rather than just copy and paste a link that will soon expire and be useless?

A) I don't want it, can't afford it, and have no place for it - I was merely trying, however mistakenly, to pass on an opportunity which looked good.
B) I don't know how to post a picture, and
C) I was trying to alert people of a cg listing, not share a picture - and cg listings expire no matter what I might post.
D) Sorry - won't do it again.

Nat, Interesting machine. Thanks for posting. It reminds me of the Lumiere I had at the Wayne Phono show. Neat! - John

Sorry you had such a curt response above.
I for one thank you for the notice, though it's on the wrong side of the continent!

I don't see any reason to take offense at a mere question as to why you wouldn't buy this uncommon machine for what seems a decent price. it's just a question.

and I'm not the only one who sees the uselessness, for purposes of building some substantive informational database on this forum, of posting a soon-to-be-dead link to a craigslist post with nothing more (it takes seconds to copy a craigslist photo to your desktop and then upload it to the forum by attaching it to your post). I also don't see anything offensive in expressing a preference for this practice, and I certainly don't see any need for someone else to apologize for any post of mine they might find "curt." I didn't realize this was such a sensitive or fragile matter.

Pathé Frères Upright Phonograph - Working with Records - $350 (Tacoma)

Selling the rare hand crank phonograph that I have been holding on to. It is original mahogany that still shines up. Has a few scrapes but no major damage. The best part is it works! Large collection of records is included.

Asking $350.00

I have been looking for an Actuelle upright, but this one is 600 miles away. If it was 300 I would really be interested.

Nat,
I think you did us a great service by posting this. I live in Bremerton, so Tacoma is close to me. I have a Pathé Actuelle already, otherwise, I would go after it. It was very nice of you to post this add so those of us in the area can go for it. I personally thing that posting craigslist adds and ebay is a service, not a disservice. I strongly encourage the practice.

What Bob and Harvey said. There's no room, or need, in this hobby for unkind, smart-a*s remarks. I hope members will continue to post links to items of interest. This is standard practice in the several other boards I am a member of. It's a useless waste of time to squabble over what amounts to one click of the mouse. Thanks, Nat, for posting: no apology necessary!

I agree, no need to flame. Not everybody is as handy with copying and pasting pictures. I've worked with PC's since 1985, but I've got no idea how to do it for instance... And this IS an very nice machine in, as far as I can see, as very good condition, for a very reasonable price. Well worth posting.
I'm known to quite outspoken, but I always try to be person friendly. English is not my first language, so I do make the odd mistake, but I also do practice netiquette, as they say so nicely, and try to hold my fellow members in esteem. After all, we're sharing a common hobby here, we're not fighting for each others' throats isn't it? My 2 cents in this discussion.
