This is an ad from the Canadian Home Journal of August 1917. Interesting from several points of view. This was contest for girls aged 12 to 18 who all competed in the local school fairs. The winner of the local fair then moved on to the regional contest and if you were the district grand bread maven you won a Pathéphone. This is only half the add which has enough conditions and details and rules to boggle the mind. Interesting amalgamation of the Ministry of Education, Cream of the West Flour and Pathé!

I couldn't agree more. Thank you so much for sharing these. They really give you an insight into the daily life back then, which as it seems was in some perspectives amazingly similar to today. Amazing, the ingenuity of people when they want to sell something.
Would you mind sharing the rest of the ad as well? I would be really interested in reading all those terms and conditions.
Thanks again
Andreas
