<<Anyone have a trick to getting the thrust bearing balls out of the governor bearings (VV-210)? They don't look really super shiny like they ideally should. I've been experiencing random record slow-downs so I'm checking things off my list as I verify each os ok. Tried rapping and tapping backs of bearings but nothing doing. Plus I don't want to try digging in there with a dental pick or whatever and scratch the bearing up.
I thought about instead using bit of cloth and metal polish worked hard into the bearing holes and polish the balls that way, but if the balls are meant to float around in there and rotate, then this won't work. Plus how to clean all the polish and crud outta there when finished if the ball is still there, nahhh.
Thanks!>>
Crimped each one into a pair of surgical clamps which let me slam them down much harder, the ball bearings came loose - VERY loose! 8 O Fortunately I was able to find the first one that went flying into the next room. If my floors were carpeted instead of laminate, that woulda been all she wrote! : )
