Edison DD Stylus

These diamond tip stylus for the Edison DD and Amberola machines very expensive, over $ 100.00. Does anyone agree this is kind of a rip off. Why can't somebody make them cheaper or even make some type of low cost replacement for say $ 50.00 or less?
