I've tried to gently turn the knob at the base but nothing moves. I have also tried to see if the threaded collar slides down to release the reproducer. Neither attempts have worked and I'm afraid I'll break something if I keep blindly tinkering with it. I've added a photo below.

I can't believe that I'm actually having to ask for help with this but a little embarrassment is better than breaking something.
I've tried to gently turn the knob at the base but nothing moves. I have also tried to see if the threaded collar slides down to release the reproducer. Neither attempts have worked and I'm afraid I'll break something if I keep blindly tinkering with it. I've added a photo below.

It's just friction fit on the mounting sleeve. Be careful of the stylus, but just pull it straight off!

Yep - friction fit. A drop of penetrating oil and a few minutes wait might do the trick.
