Sonora model?

Post by phonogal »

Can anyone tell me what model Sonora this is? Is the price about right for this even though it's missing the grill?http://austin.craigslist.org/atq/2810717324.html

Dear Phonogal,
The price seems a little high in my neck of the woods since the machine has been stripped of its finish and is missing the grill. The dark area around the Sonora decal is the original finish but it has been removed from the rest of the surrounding area. Other members who have a better idea of Sonora values can also give you an idea about the prices of them; records around here for average ones go for about a dollar apiece if you pick them out but rare ones can "go through the roof"!

Thank you. I think phonographs must be cheaper and more plentiful in other areas. Pickings are pretty slim in these parts  We're planning a trip back east this year so at least I'll be able to compare prices and availability first hand. Thanks again, Jan.

You'll have a tough time replacing that grille or having a replacement made- it curves in two directions.

I'd pass on it. An original grill would be very difficult to find and a reproduction very expensive to build. Jerry Blais

Thanks, I'll just keep looking. I'm sure I find a better one and I'm in no hurry.
