Edison B80 Diamond Disc Belt needed

Looking for a new replacement belt for my Edison B-80 Diamond Disc machine. Mine has the original leather belt which has stretched too far over the years and slips while playing, even after proper adjustments have been made. Thanks.

I have not seen Ron's leather, but most belt leather I have seen offered elsewhere is the same stuff you can buy at Tandy Leather stores on a spool, ¼" wide. It is thicker than the original leather, but it works. I suppose the rough side could be sanded down to thin it. One time, someone gave me a small sheet of kangaroo leather - talk about thin and ideal! I used a steel ruler and razor to cut out strips. Kangaroo is very pricey stuff at Tandy though.

How do you attach the two ends of a new leather belt together? Someone told me a long time ago that Tandy makes a special "super-glue" product just for leather. Or do you use very tiny staples?

I cut the belt a bit longer than needed in order to overlap the ends, approximately ¼" to ⅜". Then I use some sandpaper to feather the ends so that the joined overlap is no thicker than the rest of the belt. Belts glued with white glue have never failed me after decades, but if you use too much glue, the join may be a bit stiff. Ordinary superglue ought to work, because leather is very porous.

I do the same thing, but I use contact cement. The best stuff that I ever used is Walther's Goo cement available in model train stores. It is very strong, yet flexible. The key is a flexible joint. I coat one end squeeze together and separate the ends. When it gets tacky,squeeze the ends together using a needle nose pliers. Hold for a minute or so. I have repairs that are over 20 years old that are still holding up.
