Topic Line for spring rotation???

Post by Kiwi »

Has anyone thought of having a topic line just for the rotation of springs in different model machines.
I imagine this would be extremely helpful for many people including Deb.
Some multi springs just donn't work the way you would think! Well not the way I was thinking!

Unless you get a machine that has no springs in it when you bought it, the best advice is to note how they are installed before you remove them.

I am sure most people that have had anything to do with refitting springs would certainly note the direction of rotation of each spring. This is for when other people have made a stuff up and pulled the springs out and given up, then you get the machine with either no springs or them all in a bag.

If the springs are still installed, the cannisters can be marked but if there are no springs in them, you just about have to put the mechanism together to see what turns in what direction. For example if the turntable shaft turns counterclockwise viewed from the bottom, what way would the gear turn that is connected to it? The spring when unwinding will need to have force in this direction so it will be easy to determine what way this spring would go to push in this direction when unwinding. The next spring will need to be in a position to impart a winding up force to the former spring as it tries to unwind and the next spring would do the same to this one. It is not really hard, just tedious to see how they go. Hope this helps!
