Is this a good price for a Victorola?

Post by Geust »

New here.

I saw this ad on Craiglist. I can't tell from photos about condition, but looks nice. Seems expensive.

Opinions?

Hello Tim:
This Walnut Victrola XVI is being offered by one of the forum board members, antique1973. I'd suggest you write him with any questions via a pm on this post:
http://forum.talkingmachine.info/viewto ... f=9&t=8026

or through the craigslist listing.
The walnut machine looks very nice, but I have little advice concerning current prices on these. Good luck with your interest in this!

Hi, I am the owner of this machine. Feel free to PM me and provide your email please. I will then send more detailed
pictures and info. An American walnut model sold at auction for $1400 a few months ago to give
an idea on value. Thanks for your interest!

Well, I think the price given the previously discussed issues is fair. However, if your not within driving distance and not a handy cabinet restorer......it may become very $$$. '73, I'm surprised your selling your "new" find so quick. I guess you just can't keep it all..... I know that feeling .

Actually this is the machine I brought home from the last CAPS show. I would not dare sell my latest walnut machine, perish the thought. I have a two floor model rule and want a machine with a different finish to occupy that space. Hopefully a special oak 16 or something similar.

Thanks, I seem to have a fortunate habit of finding pairs of similar models. :clover:
I figured it was time for another shot of my "stereophonic" Victrolas.
