If the seller measured it wrong (it was listed too long and a little narrow) and it is correct.....that is not out of line for a great Victor brass horn. The first to sell ( I think to a forum member) was (I think) a great deal at $9xx.00. It too was listed under a wrong size.
This horn does look great on a Victor 6.....no question there ;).

That's the Victor 24B horn. I think it's 24" at the wide part of the bell and it's brass = 24B. Jerry

If that horn was painted black, I would not give it a second glance, because it looks right for a Victor horn. Seeing brass however, I can't help but wonder if some little Indian has a hundred of them stacked up in his workshop in Delhi.

It is odd that the seller is "King of Brass" and has TWO of them in the same excellent condition for sale. However just based on the pics, they look correct. He note's that they have the pat'd date on the small end.

They were also supposed to have, or at least mine has, a brass threaded bolt on the end to help secure the horn to the elbow, as the brass is much heavier than sheet metal...

I would agree that 2k is not unreasonable if it's original.

I believe the brass version with the threaded pin is the G&T version or "UK" one. I saw one sell on UK ebay with elbow three years ago for 500 USD!!!!!. That was a great deal!!!. Just another little concern regarding the two that just sold. Mine is like the first one the seller sold. There is no "patent" anything stamped on mine. However, I have seen (in Mexico) black flower horns with a brass end and stamped with "patent". Here is a pic of one I saw in a collection. No, the body was not brass. I also know a man that has made the dies to stamp flower panels and is. Food for thought :) .

Let me be the first to say I'm no expert, and that it's hard to judge from a photo, but it looks fake to me, and anyone who know how to work metal can use a die to put the word "patented" on something like this.

I won't presume to judge the one on eBay but I do know that good replicas of this horn have been made. I never looked to see if they were stamped, but as noted that could easily be done at any time. The repros sure looked great.

I have seen 19" reproduction brass horns for sale @ Musical Americana in the past. They were very good, but did not exactly match the original steel Victor 19" horn, and could easily be seen to be reproductions. I didn't know that anyone was reproducing the 24-B Victor horn. If anyone knows who is producing one, or has one for sale, I would be very interested in purchasing it. Thank You, Bob S.
