Edison Home Strange Carriage Rod Set Screw ????

Post by EdisonPhonographGuy »

This is actually my first Edison Home that I have redone and this came with this knob instead of a set screw to hold carrage rod in place. Does anyone recognize this actual knob / screw? Not totally sure if it is original to it. I can understand having a knob like this to help lift bedplate up, but that would be on a front part somewhere. What says you????? I have a red arrow pointing to it.

I have the base out to get a little shaved down because it has a bow to it. I want the case to sit flush and there is a little gap. He should have that done by tomorrow. This thing is almost done.

It's very fancy, but it doesn't belong there. Could be that the original thread has been retapped to accept this item. If so, a more appropriate screw can be used, even if of a nonstandard thread. Or, if you like it, just leave it there.

it is the same size as the set screw. It didn't have to be drilled or tapped. Just love these old mysteries and mystery pieces. One of a kind I guess.lol. Hopefuly someone will recognize it. Thanks for your input.

It only looks odd to those in the know. Otherwise it's a cool old thumbscrew and of a style not made anymore.
