This reminds me too much of Dr. Phillip Peterson, who was caught after robbing the Edison National Historic Site in the 1970s and 1980s, and ultimately selling those documents to unsuspecting collectors. Along the way, he destroyed many documents by cutting out Edison's signature and throwing away the rest. Peterson was convicted and did time on earth, and I hope is still doing time in a warmer place.
