Breliner Horn

Post by pappde »

I have seen several different shaped horns on the pictures of berliner phonographs.
Is it true that the original horn was a so called funnel shape?
Was it all black?
The Trade Mark pictures a machine with a brass bell also flare rim not funnel shape. How so, I thouht that Berliners came with tin horns. :o

Lots of info on the net regarding these machines. However, the "funnel" you picture was used starting with the first models up to approx. 1897 and in black only. After 1897 a belled horn was used. These bell horns came in all-black,all-brass and later black & brass. Note: there was also a one piece all brass seamless horn made also which was made by H&S.
