RCA Model 330 find.. newbie questions!

Local recycle gave me this apparently good condition RCA Model 330, a floor unit with radio and 78 electric player.

As I am quite new to this, I figure I may be able to check the radio part out (seat tubes, generous DeoxIt application,etc.) but the player part looks exotic to me. Mine looks like this one http://www.oldradiorepairs.com/el/conso ... heterodyne

I am not sure if it is all there, and how the "signal" goes from needle to the amp part...

And the radio part may not be set for the current spectrums. Another mystery.

But, I have to say, foolishly, I had to plug it in, and it was a thrill to see the lighted rotary volume, tuner dials on the radio... but no sound.

EDIT: The radio works! I reseated a tube and waited a bit for the tubes to warn up. AM band is alive, the other may be MW, where I did not find anything.

Congratulations on a great find..and free, too! Try the Antique Radio Forum/Phonographs (see link below). That's the place to get info on radio/phonographs like this. BTW: it's not a good idea to power up a piece like this until you get it properly checked out. You were lucky but disasters are not uncommon.
The second band on the radio is the low end of the short wave spectrum which does not have a lot on it any more but was in common use when this radio was made. You will need a longwire antenna (50 ft. or more to get decent reception.

Not the exact same model. Mine does not feature the big round dial, but has "stove" type knobs, with backlit dials for tuning and for volume.
Cabinetry and player section are the same.
