Another List Trashing Edison

Post by David Spanovich »

From Today's List, posted on List Universe --

Ten Ways Edison Treated Tesla Like A Jerk:
http://listverse.com/2012/06/07/10-ways ... ke-a-jerk/

1 -- Disrespectful
2 -- Driven by Greed
3 -- Mocked Tesla’s Line of Thinking
4 -- Took Credit for the Fluoroscope
5 -- Wouldn’t Pay Up
6 -- Meddling Fool
7 -- Early Radar Technology Laughed Off
8 -- Fought against Tesla’s AC Power
9 -- Killed a Man to Prove Tesla Wrong
10 -- Shared Virtually None of His Wealth

(Well, now that we know what a murdering "копиле" Edison was, I guess we should all take an axe handle to our phonographs.)

Actually, the list is open to guest comments, so if there are any real  Edison scholars out there who know the score...

Below is a friendly letter from Edison to Tesla. I cannot detect indications of envy or distrust:

I've read that Edison had bad breath too.

I suspect old Tom was like most of us, some good & some bad. Just makes his accomplishments all the more impressive to know he was human, like all of us, with his own strengths and failings.

I wonder what the list's author is like. Probably perfect and without flaw.

Thanks for the video. Made me laugh.
Nothing changes really. Steve Jobs knew nothing about science and computers and yet he will be remembered as a god in that field, simply cos he knew how to market and sell himself.
Edison was the first real corporate inventor.
Nowadays modern companies "employ" geniuses and give them absolutely no credit.
There will be no individual geniuses in the future, just corporations.
