Although I'm really watching my budget more closely these days, I still intend to go to the Orlando show in a couple of weeks. (It's the only show I attend.) However I have to confess that I find it hard to not overspend at a phono show.... the old kid in a candy store phenomenon. I can usaully pick up a few DD's which I would ordinarily never find around these parts. As far as buying a phonograph... if the right one is there, I will probably buy it. ;)

Hi,
It's not the recession that slows me down, it's the value of our dollar :( Also the freight costs for large items. Australia post won't accept large parcels so they have to be sent via UPS. I got a quote for the horn for my Opera I bought recently ,$795.00  UPS, I will be picking it up instead. :P

Hey Don
I am going to that show, I will be staying at the motel where it will be held. just look out for the Aussie drooling over the machines and looking for a shipping container to send them home :D

Don,

Living in Tampa, it must be quite spoiling to be able to attend the Orlando show, when a lot of other collectors commute far further than just an 85 mile drive (that only takes about an hour and a half—or less if you drive like most of the Floridians I knew).

I haven’t been following it, but have there been noticeable drops in machine/record prices?

Hi,
I am not sure how far I will be traveling to get there, but I would hate to walk  I will wear my Australia flag Tee Shirt if anyone wants to say G-day.

Yes, we do tend to drive fast down here. I can make it to the show from my front door in an hour. Marcel, I'll look for ya. I'll probably be drooling too. As far as prices go... it will be interesting to see what effect the economic downturn will have on prices and attendance. I didn't really notice any reduction in phonograph prices last year. But as we all know a lot has changed in a year's time.

Michael,

I know I've passed on a whole lot of things I've run across on the 'Bay.

I'm out for the time being because Ken was laid off Dec. 17. It's not looking good for the NC show in March either due to our current situation. Too bad because that's a nice show w/ plenty of records & cylinders too! Then, of course, there's the Union show in June. Now if I can't make that show, I'm going to go into serious phono withdrawal.

As a matter of fact, last night I was watching some of my video clips of Union from last summer. Shouldn't have as I began to go into withdrawal.

(Post corrected!)
