WTB: Victor Victrola VV 1-5 Portable

Post by Bruce_Van_Note »

I'm looking for a Victor Victrola VV 1-5 portable in good mechanical and cosmetic condition. If anyone has one for sale, or knows where one can be found, PLEASE contact me or send a PM. Victor produced nearly 25,000 of these phonographs, so there must be quite a few out there. Thanks.

Bruce, I've seen your WTB ad before as well. The only nice one I've seen is the one I own. 25,000 may seem like a lot, but they were only made for one year, and the total is less than 10% of all the VV-50s out there. Also, these were not as durably made as a VV-50, so perhaps fewer than you might imagine are still around. Almost all of those I've seen on eBay over the years (maybe 5 or so?) were not in terribly nice shape, and at least one had the reproducer replaced by a No. 2 for some reason.

Hi, and thanks for your post. There is a VV 1-5 out there and patience is it's own reward. Eventually, a VV 1-5 will show up unannounced and unexpected. All the best.
