I don't know much about Edisonsbut it looks to be in great shape so it seems like a steal. I found it on craigslist. I just dont know if I'm up for the 4.5hr round trip drive.

That's a great price if you're nearby, but when you factor in the cost of about a couple trips to the gas station, and fixing the broken reproducer, that's a different matter.

I did call on it but it was sold. He took it down not long after I posted. That's twice I missed out on something cool because I didn't realize I should look in parts of Ohio. Last week I missed and nice condition VV 8-4 for $10. So now I am broadening my daily craigslist search.

I picked this up myself. It was a couple of hours away from me, but turned out to be worth it as the seller offered it to me for $25...just because I was willing to make such a long drive! I'll be rebuilding the reproducer, and replacing the spring, but the cabinet itself is in pretty good condition. Which, to me, makes it well worth the time and effort.

Congrats. Well bought. The cabinet looks like it will clean up beautifully with not a lot of effort and the hardware looks good as well.

You got a real good deal there. That's not a common machine. Hard to tell for sure but I think it's an A200 or is it a B200?

Btw, you may or may not know that if you transport those A series machines on their back, it's

very likely that the works shakes loose, and messes up both the bed plate and the cabinet. The works is not bolted in.

It's an A200. Serial #1241.

I'm in the process of cleaning the motor up now. The broken old spring has been removed,and a new one ordered. The A style mechanism is quite a different beast when compared to the later "standardized" motors..and there doesn't seem to be a lot of info available on it either. I'm sure I'll be doing a fair amount of "winging it" when it comes time to start setting things back up. Does anyone know if there was ever a service, or setup manual available for the A style machines?

The only thing i could find in my files is an excerpted set of directions made available through Ron Dethlefson back in the mid-1990s. The only difference for you should be the single mainspring vs. double. Maybe this will help...
