Victor BZ gramophone Question

Whenever I put a needle in my gramophone as the record plays it pushes the needle burther up into the tonearm. I have to unscrew it to get out the needle what is the problem?

Also I have to give the turntable a spin to get it started. Is this normal? Thanks. Bob
