Max Linder Recordings?

Post by phonogfp »

This morning I received the following inquiry on the Antique Phonograph Society website. Usually, inquiries are limited to "how much is my phonograph worth?", "Where can I get my phonograph fixed?", or similar common questions. This one is more interesting and I thought some members of this forum might be able to help:

"I write you from Spain. We are working on an independent documentary about French silent film star Max Linder, who was a Pathé star.

"We are looking for any recording of Max's voice; he was a big star in his time and maybe some Pathé Cylinder or phonographic recording may survive.

"Our research has been unsuccessful for now. May you help us? Do you have any reference about any Max's voice recording? "

Beyond having some Max Linder films on DVD, I can't be of any help. I've alerted the correspondent to the existence of this board, my intention to make a posting for him, and promised to forward any leads to him as well, so that he can contact others directly if he wishes.

Is anyone aware of Max Linder recordings?

George P.

Seems the person who inquired with you also posted the same request in the MUSIC section of this forum. http://forum.talkingmachine.info/viewto ... f=3&t=9616
