Either way it seems a lot of money for something that is in my view down on condition.
Here is one I have

The motor was very well worn (much like the whole machine).Mr Grumpy wrote:Okay, so what was wrong with it aside from the crank and poor condition of the horn support arm?
I'm surprised at the price when compared to previous sales of this model on ebay...
The horn was rusty and in poor condition, the wood was dry and poor..... etc, etc..... Almost like a real "barn find".
It was a lot of money for a nice dealer celluloid plate.....![]()
.
I think the auction was expecting North of $900. It did not make that even on Ebay.
Why???.estott wrote: I was considering selling my example, but it seems I might as well toss it out the window.
The motor needs a rebuild, the nickle plating is shot, the felt is motheaten, the oxidized finish is worn out, it doesn't have the correct reproducer, the horn finish is damaged & the traveling arm is a reproduction. It's beginning to sound as it the thing is completely worthless. Back in the 1970's this really DID come out of a barn.gramophone78 wrote:Why???.estott wrote: I was considering selling my example, but it seems I might as well toss it out the window.
Actually estott, if you had seen the top on the one in question (just rust), yours looks like new....estott wrote:The motor needs a rebuild, the nickle plating is shot, the felt is motheaten, the oxidized finish is worn out, it doesn't have the correct reproducer, the horn finish is damaged & the traveling arm is a reproduction.
