I do have the Blue Amberols of

BA: "Fire!" - Earl Olivers Jazz Babies
BA: "Sometimes I'm Happy" - Al Lynn's Music Masters

as well, as other 'worthy-to-do' dance titles.

I usually would only go for the direct moulding process if the original cylinder was a direct recording, in decent shape and, of course, not made from wax. Otherwise I would try to obtain the original source, in most cases the diamond disc, and go from there with a new transfer to have more control over the outcome. But as one can imagine, this takes much more efforts and time to do.

I could likely squeeze in a few direct moulds as a limited run. These would not require the long-term re-recording process. When it came to dubbed cylinders, I have been hesitating so far, any thoughts on that?

I would personally be more inclined to buy cylinder copies of records that never made it to cylinder than dubbed records that might turn up "eventually". For example, I'd love to have the Red and Miff's Stompers sides, especially Stampede and Hurricane, on cylinder.

And I agree that sourcing from the original, rather than a dub, is the way to go whenever possible.

I would definitely be interested in these two titles as direct moulds.

BA: "Fire!" - Earl Olivers Jazz Babies
BA: "Sometimes I'm Happy" - Al Lynn's Music Masters

All the best,

Looks like Rob at Edisonia, has released "Hallelujah!" from Hit the Deck. I just ordered my copy yesterday.

Another good one is "Baby Face" by Markels Orchestra, it was released on BA 5269. I would love that one on a new cylinder.

Just received my copy of "Mad Mama Blues" by Josie Miles from Norman over at Berlin Phonograph Works....I must say this cylinder sounds great, it is definitely a good example of blues recording on Edison.

That being said, let me say that I, too, am hoping for releases of:

"Fire!" - Earl Olivers Jazz Babies
"Sometimes I'm Happy" - Al Lynn's Music Masters
"Henry's Made a Lady out of Lizzy" - Billy Jones & Ernest Hare
"I Can't Give You Anything But Love" - B.A. Rolfe and his Concert Orchestra
"Hallelujah!" (from Hit the Deck) - Fox Trot - Arthur Fields
"Susianna" -Picadilly Players
"I Want to Meander in the Meadow" - Phil Spitalny and his orchestra
"I Want to Be Bad" - Ermine Calloway

Especially, "I want To Be Bad". I realize , now, at 79, that I was not nearly "Bad" enough and really recommend it.

Cheers,
John
Ha Ha John, I just turned 42 and realized I was not bad enough. LOL
