Floyd was one of the last full time full service phonograph dealers with a real store and not just a booth in an antique center or selling out of the back of a truck. He still thinks retail when it should be wholesale in this market but he has was still buying when he should have been selling.
I have known Floyd for over 30 years and he is the reason i am in the hobby today. I enjoyed visiting with him today and left with a truck load of treasures and memories.

Re: South Jersey collector down-sizing ?
Have to agree with Steve 100%... Floyd Silvers is probably the only reason I ever got involved with this sickness we call Phonographs... LOL
In the middle of a busy day at his store, he was always willing to sit down and spend time helping us with some trivial repairs and trying to educate us on the hobby.
Floyd has had some health issues which forced him to close his store on Rt 206 in Vincent Town NJ to the dismay of many collectors that called him a friend.
I bought my first machine off of Floyd and still have the exact hand written instruction from nearly 30 years ago on how to disassemble it, and refinish the cabinet. Don't think there is enough money out their for me to part with that machine. He truly made a difference in my life.
I have to make a point of stopping by to talk with him once again.. He love the hobby and it was never about the money.

I never hoid of the guy, but it's nice to see that there's so much affection and respect for him in the community. Still, I've gotta say, whatever the circumstances of the sale, I think those who are running it could risk coming across as a little less ACHTUNG! in their ad and they'd probably benefit.
