Is this Columbia machine genuine?
Here's what appears to be a very late Columbia horn machine. It uses a Grafonola style speed control and nothing looks wrong except the brass plate on the front which in small letters says Atlantis Talking Machine- it mimics the late columbia logo as well. Was Atlantis a subsidiary that sold off obsolescent stock once the internal horn machines became popular?

THANK you! I forgot to include a link.
It's probably genuine, there are so many Columbia variations, and so many client machines, unlike Victor there are no comprehensive websites or books.

Not sure about the soundbox, but otherwise it looks decent ..... HOWEVER - I have never seen such an ID plate. "Victor and Columbia"? Weird. Maybe genuine, but weird. The $95 charge bothers me - AND the rotted-out section of the horn's threads should remove at least $100 in value. Keep this one down below $600, I say. You can get a nice Standard for that much.

I think the plate is just an advertizing plate. Looking closly at the picture of that plate I would expect to see more build up of wax and dirt around the edges of it. It looks a little too clean for me, although, it could have been removed, the cabinet cleaned or refinished, then replaced.
