Edison horizontal carriage interchange

Post by rlh30edison »

Will an Edison Home horizontal carriage fit on an Edison Triumph D2 phonograph? Thanks for any advice.

No it won't. The rods on the Home carriage is smaller than the rods on the Triumph. They are not interchangeable.

I suspected as much. Thanks for your helpful reply, Harvey.

If you have both a standard Triumph carriage and Home horizontal carriage then you can unscrew the horizontal carriage from the carriage tube and secure it on the Triumph carriage tube.

The Home has a one-piece carriage, and cannot be used on a Triumph. The Triumph has a two-piece carriage/sleeve assembly, but it cannot be used on the Home because the back rods are different sizes. See photos below (please excuse the quick, low-light shots):

That is only one version of the horizontal carriage for the Home, George ;) There is another version which has a separate carriage tube that can be removed. The carriage itself can be used with a Triumph carriage tube!

Wow Jake, that's great! Thanks for showing that variation - - I don't think I've ever noticed one before. :)
