WANTED: Edison Triumph Phonograph

Post by benjaminh »

I'm looking for an Edison Triumph to use as a workhorse cylinder player.

Requirements:
Must have 2-4 minute attachment
Must have the larger, vertical carriage

Preferably, I'd like one with a nice original finish, both case and bedplate, though I would take a project machine were the price right.

You just missed a good one on eBay. Had a steel O reproducer and a 10 panel cygnet horn which isn't correct for the machine. I bid 999.99 but it sold for 1100.00. I think it was still a good buy.

This is pretty close to me: http://raleigh.craigslist.org/atq/5632156921.html
EDISON Oak Triumph Phonograph with Oak Music Master Cygnet Horn - $3000 (Cary, NC)
Coming from my personal collection of Edison Phonographs is this Very Fine example of the Edison Triumph Phonograph. Beautifully constructed in oak with the attractive "Tiger Oak" finish. Edison Decal, black enameled bedplate, and gold Edison stenciling all in Very Good Condition.

The accompanying horn is the desireable and highly sought after Oak Music Master Cygnet horn. The horn shows no sign of damage, splitting, or chips - Excellent Condition!

The wind-up motor is the powerful, long play 3 spring design. The phonograph has the gearing to play both the 2-minute and 4-minute cylinder records. Comes with both the 2 and 4 minute reproducers. Comes with the cylinder shaving attachment, as well. The shaver is used to dress a cylinder for recording (if you have the recording attachment).

The Edison Triumph was produced during the years of 1908-1910 and was consindered Edison's top of the line model and was typically owned by wealthier families. The phonograph is in Excellent Condition and is one of the nicest examples on the market right now, in my opinion. The only thing requiring mention is a small patch on the lid that was performed prior to me owning this Beautiful piece.

The attached picture will demonstrate what an attractive, historical phonograph the Edison is. Add it to your Personal Collection. I also have a few Victor Victrola phonographs.

Smoke-free and Pet-free home located in Cary, NC.

$3,000.00
Also open to a coinage (Numismatic) trade or combination of cash & coin!

Thanks guys,
I'm young, though, and those are both above my price range...

Both of those are over priced. If you just wait, you can pick up a nice Triumph B or D for under 1000.00. I sold this one for 2000.00 but it had it all. Repeater,Flowered Horn, H & S crane and a steel O.

This one is a 2 minute Triumph with C reproducer. The OP is looking for a 2/4 minute Triumph with horizontal carriage (see below). FWIW, the Triumph that Ronnie (Amberola) posted a picture of above looks really nice but doesn't have an O reproducer on it (in the picture) as mentioned. If that one sold for 2K with an original steel O reproducer that would have been a very good deal especially with the D repeater.

The Triumph setup that you're looking for with the 2/4 minute and horizontal carriage will be generally a bit pricier since those options were introduced later and were optional "upgrades" for owners of the earlier A and B models which are the most commonly found Triumph models. Triumph model C owners could do the same upgrade but I didn't mention that model since it is highly unlikely that model Triumph will surface especially with those options on it. ;)
