Durn it I just brought an original for $350.00. I hope it is an original... Tom B
Was that for the VW or the crank?

I owned and restored a 36 Hp. VW single- cab that had an original crank for use in case the battery went flat or the starter failed. True story!

Yeah, I've seen a few repros of these at shows..

They are cool, but you can easily tell them from an original..

I was going to do that for my 59 bug the gold one above. I brought the special tin for the motor but did not buy the magneto or special engine pulley. That one is a 36 HP 6 volt all original. I almost got into restoring a single cab but did a ghia. Tom B

No magneto, and no special pulley. There's a special crankshaft pulley bolt and a crank- that's it. You need an escutcheon in the body, though.

Your car is as old as I am but looks better. :)
