Very nice find, I'm happy for you! We can all be glad of one thing, that it wasn't a phonograph that was unnecessarily gutted. How many antique radios and phonographs have fell victim to that, I don't even want to think about!

This is - in fact one pedestal from a "free standing Classical pedestal sideboard" - there would have been another and they would have stood either end of a serving table - they usually have "Urns" on them to hold cutlery - the sliding shelf is designed for Napkins and the space below would have had a Celleretter drawer for bottles.

My wife Sue and I use one every day.

Bless

So, we now have seen our first Commodola! :D :D :D

Actually, it would complement any phonograph collection and would be useful to store supplies or ephemera. Nice find!
Why do we need signatures when we are on a first avatar basis?

The Drawer has hand cut dovetails. I'm guessing that whatever it is it's from England, and was probably made in the first half of the 19th century. What a great find, especially at that price.
