Nebraska and Kansas were terrific today unless you are trying to find phonographs in Antique stores. We did find the world's largest ball of twine in Kansas. After finally getting out of Jail, I was hoping I would not get tied to this ball of twine. I think Dan and Jerry are thinking of doing something awful......Stan

Harvey you asked about the truck and trailer. Here are a few shots on the only partially full trailer. But, you can see how well Jerry gets things packed and protected.

Re: 2017 Union Trip & Reason To Visit Oregon
Today I picked up the Victor project machine purchased from a craigslist ad. I've met some of the nicest people on craigslist. The machine turned out to be a small case Victor I. I think it's all there and will be a fun project. The base cabinet turned out to be much less than hoped for. It's simply a cut off upright Victrola but there is one good nickel plated knob. Overall I'm delighted with my purchase and I hope the sellers are equally happy with their Oregon wine.

Traveled through Eastern Kansas and Western Missouri today. Found a few things in antique stores, but little in the way of phonographs. As we drove north in Missouri things looked pretty green with rolling hills. Quite nice I think. But then while still in the car something odd happened and we found ourselves 1 exit away from Oregon again. How did that happen?!
Stan didn't get locked up or tied up today. But he did get locked in the truck and he set off the alarm when he opened the door. He had to call Jerry on his phone to figure out how to get out of the truck. Really, he actually called Jerry and asked him how to get out of the truck!!!!!

On the picture of Jerry holding the box with his treasure, I noticed the tattoo was gone. Did Jerry go to a tattoo parlor to get it removed, or did he wash it off?

Re: 2017 Union Trip & Reason To Visit Oregon
Today we spent time in Missouri and Iowa. We entered our first antique shop in Walnut, Iowa and bought a few items. We traveled to Des Moines and spent some time at the Brass Amardillo (mostly garage sale items). We visited Larry Strong in Ottumwa, Iowa and bought a few machines and cabinets. Larry and his wife Debbie are such great people and live in this beautiful town in central Iowa. We ended our day in Burlington, Iowa home of Grandpa's Ice Cream. Jerry and I visited this shop last year and pledged to come here again. Ice Cream is made each day to recipes unique to this shop. We believe this is the best ice cream in the world.........and so fresh. Don't miss this parlor if you are in Iowa or even the US; you won't regret it if you love ice cream. Out of jail and not strapped to twine...........Stan
Photo of 400 lb cement Nipper in Walnut, Iowa.... Even Dan and Jerry could not lift it. Click on it and it should upright itself. But if you weighed 400 lbs, you would fall on your face too!!

Re: 2017 Union Trip & Reason To Visit Oregon
We started today northwestern Missouri and drove directly to Walnut, Iowa. Not too many shops were open but we found some nice things. The only phono related item was a very nice all brass 14" horn with a little hanger on it. Stan bought it at a good price and it is a very nice horn. We then drove to the Brass Amadillo in Des Moines to both shop and meet another collector to make an Electrola delivery. Antiquing was bleak but I found a rescue dog chalk Nipper that has lots of charm and a big blob of glue holding the dog to its base. But it is really a cute one.
We then drove to Ottumwa, IA and picked up phonographs and record cabinets. We had a nice visit and packed up and loaded a number of things. We then drove to Burlington, IA for a little bite to eat. I will leave the rest to Jerry.
