Sonora phonograph 1920s - Working condition - $1200 - AND it comes with records...

"The phonograph is not of any commercial value."
Thomas Alva Edison - Comment to his assistant, Samuel Insull.
"No one needs a Victrola XX, a Perfected Graphophone Type G, or whatever you call those noisy things."

That's the Sonora Symphony model, circa 1926.
Top of the line, and designed to compete with the Victrola Credenza, so I don't know if the price is unrealistic, considering its quality.
There are a number of videos on YouTube, for instance -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yd14J8yI9ZA

Do the twin grilles conceal a bifurcated horn, and is it made of metal or wood?
Earlier Sonoras were marketed in the UK by the well known music publishers Keith, Prowse & Co.Ltd, but these later models are almost unknown over here. I wonder how they compare with a Cortez, a Credenza or a big Re-Entrant HMV.

There are some excellent photos on this thread, showing the bifurcated wooden horn, etc. -- http://forum.talkingmachine.info/viewto ... =2&t=13932epigramophone wrote:Do the twin grilles conceal a bifurcated horn, and is it made of metal or wood?

That Nat Cole album should sound pretty rough on that Sonora!
